El Estado como empresa. The State as a company

Hoy hemos tenido clase de marketing internacional con el profesor Julio Cerviño. La lección ha sido muy interesante y provechosa e impartida por un gran docente. Tras terminar la clase he estado debatiendo con mi mujer Montse Pla y hemos llegado a la conclusión que hay oportunidades de negocio en el extranjero muy interesantes, pero que por la elevada inversión hace muy difícil que empresas medianas puedan plantearse. Pues bien, ¿Que pasaría si el Estado actuara como empresa y abriera vias de negocio en otros países?. Si ejerciera de empresario (con profesionales que provengan de las empresas privadas mejor que funcionarios) podría obtener grandes beneficios para el país, teniendo en cuenta lo complicado de la economía española en estos momentos. Probablemente sería una buena opción que el estado pudiera emprender acciones de este tipo, aunque por desgracia la historia nos indica que el gobierno nunca ha sido un gran gestor. Evidentemente esta riqueza no generaría apenas puestos de trabajo en España, y posiblemente haya otras prioridades en que invertir los recursos (I+D+i), pero no me parecería ninguna locura plantearlo ya que de esta manera puedes abrir el camino a otras muchas empresas a establecer lazos con otros países extranjeros en los que el Gobierno ya haya abierto y facilitado la comunicación.

Today we had a conference of international marketing given by Julio Cerviño. The lesson was very interesting and helpful and taught by a great teacher. After completing the class, my wife Montse Pla and me have been discussing about it and we have concluded that there are business opportunities abroad very interesting, but the high investment makes it difficult for medium-sized enterprises. Well, what would happen if the State acts as an enterprise and makes business in other countries?. If the State acts as a manager (with professionals who come from private companies better than officials) could reap enormous benefits for the country, taking into account the complexity of the Spanish economy at this moment. It would probably be a good option that the State could undertake such actions, but unfortunately history tells us that the government has never been a great manager. Obviously this wealth doesn’t generate jobs in Spain, and possibly the State has other priorities to invest resources (research, development, innovation), but is not  crazy to think about it, in this way can open the way for many other companies to establish ties with foreign countries in which the Government has already opened and facilitated communication.
